Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important official commented the incident left him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
