Cars in Germany's Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Police reported they were contacted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior representative said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
